SilverLink Senior Services Providing Guidance, and Home Health Care With Compassion

Companion Care

This is a hands-off form of care that focuses on quality of life and non-medical/personal services. Clients receiving companionship care may need assistance with light housekeeping, cooking meals, and medication reminders. For those that are isolated or do not have frequent visitors, this is a perfect option to help maintain social interaction and encourage activity. Caregivers will help with daily needs but the best caregivers will do that and then some, touching people’s hearts to ensure the maximum quality of life possible by helping your loved ones do whatever it is that they enjoy doing whether this is acting as a gardening buddy, a game partner, card player or just someone to talk to. All caregiving is companionship but not all caregivers are true companions.

Conversation and Companionship

Studies prove that elders, older adults, and seniors who stay social and engaged have a better quality of life. They also have a lower tendency to develop depression and general cognitive decline.

Meal Preparation

Daily tasks, like meal preparation, can be a lot of work for older adults. Our caregivers step in and help in the kitchen when needed. They cook hot and wholesome meals to meet nutritional and dietary needs. Your loved ones are always welcome to work alongside their caregiver during meal prep. This time spent working together is an excellent opportunity for social interaction and conversation.

Laundry Assistance

Our caregivers can assist with a loved one’s laundry needs. These services may include washing, drying, ironing, and putting clean laundry away.

Light Housekeeping

Caregivers are available to provide light housekeeping. Our services include vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms (sinks, tubs, showers, and toilets), cleaning kitchens (sinks, appliances, counters, and taking out the trash), straightening all rooms, organizing closets and drawers. If deeper cleaning is needed we can provide recommendations on 3rd party companies to use and then maintain from there.

Grocery Shopping and Errands

Getting around can be difficult for some seniors especially if they are unable to drive. Our caregivers take care of this problem by running around for you. This can include grocery shopping and other errands, such as stopping at the pharmacy or post office. Your loved ones are welcome to stay home or come along for as a way to stay active! Please note that other fees may apply including mileage for the caregiver utilizing their own vehicles and costs for additional insurance if needed while transporting client passengers.

Transportation

Being out and about benefits our clients. For older adults unable to drive, our caregivers can provide transportation or make transportation arrangements to medical appointments, barbershops, beauty salons, shopping and more.

Medication Reminders

Difficulty taking medications correctly or timely is often a first sign of needing additional help. Clients that need reminders to take medications on a regular basis can receive assistance with this through a few options. Our licensed care staff of CNA‘s, HHA’s, and MA’s can assist with reminders for medication, while they cannot administer medication on their own, we have RN’s and LPN’s can assist with this should your loved one need it.

Social Gatherings

We think it critical for our clients to know that their social life hasn’t ended, to the contrary, we can identify outside activities and social gatherings so they can feel less isolated and more engaged in the wider world.

Personal Care

This is what most people when they think of caregiving. Personal care brings in skilled, trained, and licensed staff to assist with the completion of a loved one’s activities of daily living. These include managing medications, bathing, dressing, grooming assistance, help with toileting, and any other physical care that is needed for a loved one to complete their daily routine. For many of our loved ones with physical or cognitive disabilities, this is a daily struggle. Caregivers should help loved ones complete these tasks with dignity and respect but also efficiently and ensure the loved one’s safety. Most families we assist wait till their loved ones get to the stage of needing physical care before calling us because those are the easily spotted signs. We recommend not waiting in order to keep your care costs low as this can be the most expensive side of care at an hourly rate.

Grooming and Hygiene

The goal at SilverLink is to assist our clients with their personal care routine so they can look and feel their best. We can assist with shampooing, shaving, hair combing and styling, nail and skin care, oral care and other grooming needs

Mobility Assistance

Remaining active in your golden years is one of the best ways to maintain a higher quality of life. Our caregivers help seniors remain active by assisting them in getting from place to place in comfort and safety.

Transferring and Repositioning

One of our top priorities is helping our clients move around their homes. This may include getting in and out of bed, chairs, and wheelchairs. Proper transferring and positioning can contribute to reducing bedsore risks. This also helps reduce muscle atrophy, while encouraging proper breathing and digestion and also lowers the risk of falls and injuries.

Toileting and Incontinence Care

We understand the sensitive nature of toileting and incontinence care for our clients. Without proper help, seniors can face many challenges, including skin infections, unpleasant odors, and general hygiene problems. Our caregivers offer compassionate, dignified help with these personal aspects of daily living.

Nutrition

Maintaining a healthy, nutritious diet can affect well-being and vitality across the board. In fact, many seniors have prescribed meal plans they must stick to for health reasons. Whether you are looking for help adhering to a special diet or just want to improve nutrition, SilverLink caregivers can help clients stay on prescribed diets to prevent or control a wide variety of medical conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis.

Medication Reminders

Although our caregivers cannot administer medications, they can assist in ensuring that clients take their medication as prescribed. Our caregivers can help with opening medication containers, reading labels, and reminding the client when it is time for the next dose.

Observation and Reporting

This is one of the most important services caregivers do. It includes monitoring a client’s status and reporting concerns and changes to a supervisor regarding the client’s physical well-being, functional level, cognitive status, skin condition, mood, mobility, interactions with others, and eating and sleeping patterns. Vital Signs – Most Family Resource caregivers are trained to monitor and document vital signs, including pulse, temperature, and respiration.

Nursing Services

Nursing services utilize the full extent of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practicing Nurse (LPN) abilities to care for your loved one. This includes administering any medications that require a nurse, such as managing feeding tubes, injectable medications for diabetes or other diseases, or disease management and administrative oversight of the care staff. If you need a nurse we can get you one. Our nurses will be available to you at an hourly rate to provide direct patient care as needed or as ordered by your loved one’s physician. This is usually temporary visits for a half hour or so at a time and is used for specific care plan needs. Our nurses are also available to do supervisory visits and calls to review your loved one’s care plan and condition.
